CF3I
CF3I is a compound called trifluoroiodomethane, which is used as a colorless and odorless gas and is attracting attention as a substitute for existing gases such as SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) and Halon due to its environmentally friendly characteristics. It is used as an eco-friendly alternative because the Global Warming Index (GWP) is very low and the ozone layer destruction index (ODP) is close to zero.
YMM Reemi Co., Ltd. succeeded in chemical synthesis of CF3I and won an order for government projects worth 3 billion won, providing an opportunity to transform itself from a mixed gas company into a high value-added material chemical company.
CF3I production was previously possible only in three countries (the United States, Japan, and China), but YM LEMY has secured the production source technology to synthesize and purify high-purity CF3I in a fourth country worldwide, and plans to complete mass production facilities with an annual capacity of 50 tons at the Gyeongju plant by the end of 2026, and will begin producing products with a global top-level purity of 99.9% or higher starting January 2027.
